Lavinia Kumaraendran was admitted as a Barrister-at-Law (Lincoln’s Inn) in October 2003 and to the Malaysian Bar in 2005. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Commercial Law, Bristol, UK.
Lavinia’s practice primarily focuses on Corporate and Commercial litigation, Insolvency, Corporate Recovery and Corporate Fraud. A substantial portfolio of her work consists of boardroom battles relating to breach of duties and misappropriation of company funds and assets and financial fraud. She has acted for a broad range of clients from office holders, companies, directors and shareholders in all aspects of personal and corporate insolvency. She also advises clients on financial restructuring and corporate rescue matters including schemes of arrangement and judicial management exercises.
Aside from the niche area of practice in corporate litigation and contentious liquidation, her commercial litigation experience includes contentious probate and trust actions.
She frequently appears as solicitor and counsel in the High Court and Appellate Courts in Malaysia.
As an avid litigator and the Deputy Chair of the Advocacy Training Council, Bar Council Malaysia, Lavinia is passionate about advocacy, having trained advocates in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, India and South Africa.
Lavinia also often gives talks, webinars and has been actively involved in continuing legal education seminars organised by the Bar Council Continuing Professional Development Committee, Current Law Journal Series and is often invited to give talks, workshops and judge intervarsity moot competitions.
